About Dr. Beau Grantier

I chose sports medicine as my sub-specialty because it combines my love of sports with my passion to care for others. I grew up playing almost all sports offered in Mississippi including football, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, track, etc. I was fortunate to play NCAA soccer in Texas. I knew I wanted to be a physician, but once I had so many orthopedic and non-orthopedic sports related injuries I realized I wanted a career taking care of patients who had similar injuries to mine. I chose emergency medicine because it was a field that bests complement my career as a sideline sports physician and make me a better physician in an orthopedic clinic.

I feel successful as a physician when patients feel cared for and recover back to their baseline activity level pain free as a result of my diagnosis and treatment plan. I want patients to have multiple evidence-based medicine options on how to treat their problem.

Since I have specialized in emergency medicine and sub-specialized in sports medicine I have seen many interesting cases. A case that stands out the most is helping diagnose and treat a pediatric athlete with a rare, potentially life-threatening diagnosis of a posterior sterno-clavicular joint dislocation. Managing his case by finding the initial diagnosis, providing stabilizing care, then watching him return months later to football was something I will always remember.

There are many reasons, but I enjoy working with physicians who genuinely care about people. I would be happy for any of the physicians at Southlake to take care of my own family.

I am married to my best friend who had our four children during my medical training. Somehow, she also obtained her nurse practitioner degree at the same time. I would not be where I am today without her. We are actively involved at Church of the Highlands and enjoy spending time watching our kid’s extra-curricular activities. Also, I cover local high school football games and other sporting events in Birmingham and the surrounding area.
